A Summary of
Characters in the Tides series:
Simon Faraday Hardman
/ Ex Navy Seal and DEA agent at time of book
starts. Father of Nicole and Megan Baldwin
although he doesn’t know it yet. Brother to
Sue Malone. Simon lives on the western side
of Choctawhatchee Bay in Fort Walton Beach
Florida living the life of a suburban beach
bum. Simon has grown tired of fighting the
bad guys in the world and wants to be left
alone. He has two black labs by the names of
Trav and Grets. Was longtime boyfriend to
Lori Baldwin in high school? The best way to
sum up Simon would be to say he is like a
gunfighter out of the old west. He avoids
confrontation at all cost and only wants to
live his life one day at a time and in
peace.
Lori Baldwin
/ Mother of twin daughters Megan and Nicole,
Fathered by Simon, Lori kept that fact hid
from him for 15 years. Lori is a prosecutor
in Rome at the time of the shooting. She is
trying to convict the Juan Sanchez of a drug
related shooting. Simon and Lori were an
item in high school and broke up when Simons
father died right before high school
graduation. He joined the Navy right after
funeral? Lori is a highly education and
determined individual. She is like a pit
bulldog when it comes to prosecuting a bad
guy.
Megan Baldwin
/ At the time of the series she is fifteen
and has an almost identical twin sister
Nicole. Knows very little about her father
and has learned not to ask questions. Their
mother never speaks of him. Smart
academically and runs cross country and
track. Tends to be the bossier of the two
and has a strong like of boys.
Nicole Baldwin
/At the time of the series she is fifteen

Sue Faraday Malone
/ Older sister to Simon and divorced with
two girls, the youngest (Marie) is collage
and the oldest (Ann) is married with a kid
that is five years old. Meets Marty Cipriano
and eventually marries him in Book two. Will
be just what Marty needs to rise in the
ranks of the DEA. Sue is an avid distance
runner also.
Marty Cipriano / Friend to
Simon since his Navy Seals days and joined
the DEA with him. Is presently still with
agency and visits Simon regularly. Marty has
tried on many occasions to talk his friend
into joining back up with the DEA. Lives in
Panama City Beach, Florida and is part of
MET task force for that area. Because Simon
kept him out of the lime light during the
first two books, Marty will become Simon’s
boss by replacing Christian Bell.
Darius Munoz / Friend to
Simon and close friend to Santo, he was a
sniper in the SEAL’s and also did work for
the CIA. His work with the CIA is a closely
guarded secret. Served with Simon in both
the SEAL’s and DEA with Simon, nickname is
Big D. Is presently still with agency. His
home is in Marco Island, Florida presently.
Has never explained why he lives there to
his friends. Born in Cozumel Mexico and
moved to Brownsville, Texas at the age of
five with parents. Father and brothers and
sister are part of Ramirez cartel
indirectly. Little is known how father came
to Miami, possible set up by Ramirez cartel
to do smuggling and money laundering.
Santiago Esteban / Friend
to Simon and was in Navy Seals and DEA with
Simon and goes by the nickname Santo. Lives
in South Miami, close to his sister Maria,
they came over in a boat from Cuba when he
was young. Parents died on the way over.
Wears a Gold cross necklace given to him by
his mother before she died on the way to
America. Santo is 6 foot four inches and
weighs 234 pounds. He is the master of
various disciplines of martial arts. Also
skilled in the art of hand to hand combat,
but does his best to avoid confrontation. In
another life he would have been a monk or
priest.
Maria
Esteban /
Santiago’s sister and has a husband and
kids. Was a prostitute in her teens and
hooked on drugs because of the Munoz family.
Santo and Darius rescued her by killing her
pimp before joining the Navy. Is very
protective of her big brother and love shim
dearly, thinks he walks on water.
Christian Bell / Head
administrator of the DEA southeastern
section of the United States and Caribbean.
Has six different teams set up around the
gulf coast, but favors one group in
particular. Simon’s boss when he was part of
the same team as his friends and also thinks
of Simon as son he never had. Presently
Darius, Marty, and Santiago work for him as
troubleshooters around the state of Florida.
Later Simon will learn that his older
brother Cort who is with the CIA was the one
who recommended him for the DEA.
Chris never tells Simon of his
personal relationship to his brother Cort or
his ties with the CIA. Christian Bell’s long
time secretary’s name is May.
John Nichols / DEA agent
brought into watch and help Marty by
Christian Bell after Simon sends Chris an
email asking about Ramirez cartel. Part of a
RET team from Mobile, Alabama area. Not
getting along with Marty very well. In book
two he becomes an asset to Chris by becoming
his assistant. Is a computer geek, can find
any information if it’s in a computer file.
Mary Lunsford / DEA agent
brought into watch and help Marty by
Christian Bell. Part of a RET team from
Mobile area. Mary is somewhat of a super cop
according to her file. The bad side is she
tends to get her partners killed. Mary is
the lover to Juan Carlos Munoz and has ties
to the Ramirez cartel. She will repeatedly
try and have Simon killed, her excuse is she
is afraid of him. When not in Juan Carlos
bed she is in Carlos Ramirez bed. She also
has her sights set on Jorge Munoz.
Ricky James / Chief of
Police in Rome, Georgia and old high school
friend of Simons and is blackmailed by Raul
Garcia. Because of his close ties to Simon
he will be targeted by members of the Munoz
family and Raul Garcia’s people for death.
He will become a grandfather although short
lived.

Paul Holbrook/ Owner of
Paul’s Oyster Bar in Destin and close friend
to both Simon and Marty. Simon and Marty
helped Paul out when his daughter was having
problems with druggies / life guards when
Simon first moved down to the area. The
place he runs is a like lot Gilligan’s in
Destin that over looks Destin Harbor.
Julie Holbrook / Paul’s
daughter. She also works at the restaurant
and has bad taste in the men she dates.
Dexter / Dex is considered
the old man of the group, due to his being
over the age of forty. Served with Simon in
the SEAL’s and is on the verge of being
promoted to administrator on the east coast
of Georgia. He calls Savannah his home and
its where most of his family lives. Dex will
sail from Aruba with Pete and head to the
coast of Cartagena to pick up Simon and
Santo in Book three. Wife’s name is
Cecelia
who is a lawyer like Lori.

Doug Johnson / Police
officer in city of Rome and was blackmailed
by Raul Garcia. Close to the Police Chief
and wants to get out from under Raul
Garcia’s thumb.
Detective Paul Smith /
Helped Christian Bell’s team down in Miami
with murder of Juan Carlos. His son was
killed in Mobile, Alabama during a drug bust
that was related to the Ramirez cartel. It’s
quite possibly Mary Lunsford set him up. He
is sent to Bimini to try arrest Mary and
bring her back from prosecution when he is
attacked.
Mark Smith / Son of
Detective Paul Smith and was killed when set
up by Mary Lunsford in Mobile. Left a wife
and two kids behind upon his tragic death.
Dr. Roberta
Talbot/
She is a emergency room doctor who was
blackmailed by Raul Garcia so her father
would do Raul’s biding in the state
government. Helps Simon with his gunshot
wounds after he was nearly killed in Miami
when Operation Icebox turns sour. He was
taken to Rome where he would be safe and
that’s when Doctor Talbot helped him.
Although he doesn’t know she helped him
until she helps him a second time by sewing
him up at his sister Sue’s house. Secretly
in love with Simon and only Ricky James wife
Ann knows about her true feelings towards
Simon.
George Silva / Head of DEA
in Colombia and he will be sent on special
mission from head of DEA operations to get
Simon and Santo to volunteer to escort
Alejandro Ortega Morales
back to U.S. for prosecution. Has
price on his head, by all major cartels in
Columbia. He will be killed in Destin on a
fishing boat by the beautiful Latin assassin
Kira Machado.
Nick and Greg / Bodyguards
to Meg and Nic starting in Book one. Were
Air Force commandos that are on special
assignment to Simon and will have more parts
in books to come! Simon’s daughters like the
two guys. Younger versions of Simon and that
make Simon nervous since his girls have a
crush on them.
Pete Bentley / College
student and recently recruited by Munoz
family to sail boats back and forth to the
Bahamas. He will marry Cathy Brown in a
quick ceremony after problems with her
father. Will join DEA and be own Simons
team. Christian Bell assign’s Pete to help
Simon and Santo after he graduates from the
DEA academy, his extra training is put on
hold so he can help Simon. He is to sail off
the coast of Cartagena, Colombia for an
unsanctioned pick up when they try to
extradite Alejandro Morales. Thinks of Simon
as a father figure, because Pete new him
from the boys ranch, where Pete lived there
as a teenager.
Cathy Brown / College
student and recently recruited by Munoz
family to sail charter boats with Pete. They
become married after Cathy’s father tries to
have Pete beaten up. Her father is Stephen
Brown and he helps launder money for the
Munoz family.
Kari Brown / Mother of
Cathy Brown. She will sell the house in Key
Biscayne and move to Destin.
Stephen Brown / Tied to
Munoz family by money laundering, with a
bank he runs. Daughter is Cathy and realizes
to late the error of his ways. He will turn
against the Munoz family and try to testify
for the DEA.
John Randall Stevens /
Works for Paul’s Restaurant, not much is
known about him in the beginning. It turns
out John is on the run from bad marriage, ex
pro football player and owner of a
construction company. Has one daughter who
he hasn’t seen in five years. Caught wife
cheating with best friend and beat him up
and left town. It turns out is part of the
elite Delta force and is on assignment to
watch Simon. John is supposed to be from
Gadsden, Alabama.
Sonny Roberts / Friend of
Simons and is big time real estate lawyer on
the southwestern side of Florida. Younger
sister Debra
was killed due to drugs and that when he and
Simon first meet and then become friends.
Handles the money Simon took from drug
dealers and works with him on the boy’s
ranch near the Everglades.
Scott /
Head agent in charge for CIA in
Colombia, lost brother in 9/11 Pentagon
airplane crash, was in the Navy as a NIA
agent. Spent 10 years in the Navy before
being recruited into the CIA and has
undisclosed amount of time in Colombia. Is
in process of making deal for
A. Morales
in return for his freedom, he gets the
terrorist responsible for his brothers death
Mohammed Al Busaid. He is a good agent just
blinded by his hate to punish the man
responsible for his brother’s death. Scott
shows up in Book three.
Trini Ruiz / Head of
security for Panamanian consulate in
Medellin, Colombia for the past several
years and is a liaison between his
intelligence agency and the CIA. Trini is a
hold over from the Regan years and was sent
to Colombia after the canal was turned over
to Panama and the American military bases
were closed thanks to Jimmy Carter.
Senator Matthew Danforth /
Is the newly appointed senator from Alabama.
Was the state attorney general for 10 years
before taking the appointment by the
governor after the mysterious death of the
longtime senator he replaced? He is friends
with the DEA director of operations Daniel
Steel. He is looking into the death of the
other senator and into one of the senators
(Senator Jefferson Halton Bolton) on the
Intelligence committee.
Mr. Smith / Works for
Senator Danforth. He is a bodyguard and
investigator for the senator. No much is
known about the man or where Senator
Danforth met him.
Bad
Guys in Book 1
Miguel Sanchez
/ Bad person #1 for Raul Garcia’s smuggling
operation, was underling to Enrique Guerrero
and responsible for shooting of Lori
Baldwin. Is an outcome control punk who uses
way too much of the illegal drugs he is in
charge of selling.
Juan Sanchez
/ Bad person #2 for Raul Garcia’s smuggling
operation, brother to Miguel and was in jail
for killing a rival drug dealer. Lori
Baldwin was trying to prosecute him.
Enrique Guerrero / Bad
person #3 in Ramirez Cartel ran the drug
trade for Raul Garcia. In charge of
distribution in the Rome area and was Miguel
and Juan Sanchez boss. Has a younger brother
by one year named Ernesto that he brought
into his part of the drug trade to act as
his enforcer and bodyguard.
Ernesto Guerrero / Younger
brother to Enrique and does all of the
enforcing for his brother Enrique. He will
become Simon’s biggest adversary and will
kill two of Simon’s closest friends. Marine
RECON with dishonorable discharged so he can
go to work for his brother. Expert with a
knife, hand to hand combat and recruited by
the Munoz family to kill Draius, Simon and
several others who were interfering with the
business.
Raul Garcia / Also known as
Raul Torres Chavez, head of drug cartel
family in Georgia and Tennessee and the
Carolinas. Brother to Domingo Torres Chavez
who is the number two man in the Ramirez
cartel by marriage. Started cartel in the
area and was a sick perverted man with his
blackmailing project. Raul was ultimately
responsible for the hit put out on Lori
Baldwin.
Emilio Lopez / Bodyguard
and chauffer to Raul Garcia and informer to
Carlos Ramirez, head of the Ramirez Cartel.
He informed on Garcia without his knowing
about it.
Antonio Torres Chavez /
Police Officer that was put on the police
force to watch Chief James by Raul Garcia.
Nephew to Raul Garcia and son of Domingo
Torres Chavez, Carlos Ramirez’s had been
very fond of him and had given his blessing
for Antonio to take over and kill Raul. He
is responsible for the kidnapping of Lori
and Chief James.

Carlos Fernandez Ramirez /
Head of Ramirez Cartel, Father of Consuelo
and his sister Dorota Fernandez Ramirez, is
married to Domingo Chavez. He is the boss
over all cartels both in Mexico and
Colombia. They live in Sinoloa, Mexico which
has become the cartels city. Highly educated
and very smart when it comes to the illegal
drug trade. Cannot be linked to the illegal
drug trade and prefers to keep a low profile
which has worked to his advantage. His hero
is Pablo Escobar and he has learned from the
dead drug kingpins mistakes.
Doroto Ramirez Chavez /
Sister of Carlos and married to Domingo, had
son by the name of Antonio. There second
son’s name is Thomas. She is the family
lawyer and wants Simon Hardman dead for
killing her son, no matter the cost. Also
wants Simon’s whole family dead for what he
did in Rome.
Consuelo Fernandez Ramirez
/ Only daughter of Carlos and the shining
point in the top drug kingpin’s life. She is
beautiful and deadly as rattlesnake, with a
heart of stone. Lives the life of a jet
setter but continually trains as a bodyguard
for her father. As far as Carlos is
concerned, she is the number one person to
replace him. Unlike her father she likes the
limelight.
Domingo Torres Chavez /
Head of distribution for Ramirez Cartel,
married into family when he married Dorota
the oldest daughter of Carlos. Has a son by
the name of Antonio who was killed by Simon
and another younger one named Thomas who
wants revenge and to prove his manhood to
his father. Lives in Juarez, Mexico close
the border. Domingo has many hidden
airfields that allow him to fly around
checking out processing sites and
distribution points without being seen by
law enforcement. He also keeps a low profile
when it comes to being seen out in public or
close to the illegal drugs.
Thomas Torres Chavez /
Youngest son of Domingo and Doroto Chavez
after the death of Antonio, he is in his mid
twenties and wants revenge of his brother
death by Simon. Deadly with a gun or knife,
has been trained by Colonel Perez. Has a
large appetite for young blonde girls that
he has kidnapped from resort areas of Mexico
and the Caribbean.
General Emilio Delgado Perez
/ Head of Federal Police in Mexico and key
man for protecting the Ramirez Cartel, has
known Carlos since childhood. First Cousin
to Colonel Guillermo Ruiz Perez and has
advance his rank and introduced and brought
him into the cartel.
Colonel Guillermo Ruiz Perez
/ Lives and works in Juarez and protects
Domingo and his operation to the border. On
more than one occasion he has actually gone
across the border and attacked people
interfering with the distribution of drugs.
Colombian Cartels
Rubio Ortega Morales /
Older Brother to Alejandro and heads up
their portion of the cartel in Colombia that
starts at the northern shores and stops in
Bogotá. Oversees the Cocaine and Heroin
manufacturing facilities and works closely
with Alonso Guzman. Both pay FRAC and ELN
guerrillas for protection of fields and
shipping of product. Has the look of elder
statesmen to the other cartels. Is close to
the terrorist Muhammad Al Busaid and has
hatched a deadly plot which in return will
deliver Simon Hardman to Al Busaid as
payment for services rendered.
Alejandro Ortega Morales /
In charge of Pot, Cocaine, and Poppies
growing for the Morales areas in the
northern regions and handles enforcement
problems by being a liaison with the
guerillas groups. Also handles shipping of
products to Mexico. Both pay FRAC and ELN
guerrillas for protection of fields and
shipping of product. He is also being sought
for extradition. The DEA hopes he is the
weak link in the Colombian cartel.
Emilio Morales / Son of
Alejandro and takes over for his father when
he is captured by the DEA in a raid. Has a
poor education and not very smart. Makes up
for the lack of intelligence by being
extremely ruthless.
Alonso Fuentes Guzman /
Heads up the cartel from Southern Bogotá to
the Southern tip of Colombia where its meets
with Ecuador, Peru, Brazil and Venezuela. He
is the counterpart to Rubio and they split
the country into two halves. Oversees the
Cocaine and Heroin manufacturing facilities,
shipping of products and works closely with
Rubio Morales.
Edgar Fuentes Guzman / Head
of growing Pot Cocaine and Poppies, most
violent of the brothers, does the same as
Alejandro but in the southern regions. He
doesn’t travel much with older brother. He
lets his brother handle the details and he
keeps people in line, it’s what he prefers.
Pretty much a sadistic brute and could be
called a psychopath.
Alicia Fuentes Ortega /
Daughter of Alonso Guzman and is the family
lawyer and handles the financial and legal
side of the illegal drug business. She is
very naïve about the leftist or communist in
her country considering her net worth is
nearly half billion dollars. Was married to
Head of FRAC Guerrillas in Colombia, he was
killed by Kira Machado when he was being
sworn into the Senate Falls in love with
Ricardo but reports to he father about his
business.
Munoz
Family
Juan Carlos Munoz / Father
of Munoz family, completely without morals
or scruples, killed his wife when his
children were young because she threatened
to go to the police about his illegal
business dealings. He also wants his son
Draius dead because he choice the DEA over
the family business. Juan Carlos has raised
the other three siblings to be just like
him. He runs the family with a tight
dangerous fist of brutality. Will have
anyone killed who gets in his way and family
doesn’t matter.
Ricardo Munoz / The oldest
brother and next in line to succeed his
father in the drug smuggling business or so
he thinks. Flashy, and dangerous, same type
of killer his father is. His passions are
for gold coins and racing his favorite speed
boat “El Diablo”. After those two passions
would be beautiful women.
Jorge Munoz / He is the
second oldest brother and a financial whiz
when it comes to laundering millions of
dollars from the sale of illegal drugs for
the Munoz family. Jorge doesn’t have the
killer instinct that his brother Ricardo or
sister Alex have. Has a rather dormant life
until his father is killed. He was thought
to have been gay for many years by the
family and therefore despised. Also has a
passion for speedboats and has the identical
duplicate of his brothers Ricardo speedboat.
Alexandra Munoz aka Menendez
/ The only female in the Munoz family and
the youngest of the four children but will
take control of family if Juan Carlos has
his way. She is head of the charter boat and
aircraft companies. Alex as she is called
was responsible for nearly killing Simon in
Miami. She has also become the lover of
Ernesto, her hired killer. A very dangerous
woman in her own right, with a volatile
temper to match. Her appetite for young men
is a large one and she uses sex to recruit
the young men out of college for the charter
company.
Charley and Rosa Rodriguez
/ Crew members that work for Island Charter
Service and watch the other crews that work
for Alex. Perfect fit for the kind of people
Alex likes to hire. Charley has a mean
streak but is a wimp when it comes to Rosa.
She leads him around by his male anatomy.
They do a lot of dirty work for the Munoz
family. Rosa is a born killer with a
sadistic side.
Connie
Alverez /
Is the receptionist for Alex’s company and
will take over the charter service
eventually for the two Munoz brothers. It
isn’t until she hires on with Alex that she
realizes the type of business s the Munoz
family but is afraid to quit because of the
possibility of being killed. Connie was also
a secret lover of Jorge Munoz.
Brent and Isabel / A young
couple in love and part of charter service
and they talk with Simon and Marty. Alex had
them killed by Ernesto with the help of
Charley and Rosa.
Important secondary characters.
Kira Machado / Very
skillful, deadly and a beautiful assassin,
in her early thirties, supported by the AUC.
Was rescued by Felix Sabina from being raped
by FRAC members, she winds up being pregnant
and also decides to quit the killing
business while in Destin to kill George Siva
and possibly Simon and his family. Changes
her mind about Simon and now has the cartels
mad at her. Parent’s names are Jorge and
Anna.
Felix Sabina / Founder of
CCP and a brigade commander, lover and
friend and confident to Maria. Has trouble
with members of his right wing group due to
his not wanting to take drug money. Is
attacked in Cartagena and is own the run
with Maria. His two best friend and members
of the CCP sell him out.
Robert King / A character
in the future that helps the two Munoz
brothers when it comes to living on in the
Turk Islands.
Daniel Steel / Head of DEA
Chief of Operations. Appears to have it out
for Simon and wants Chris gone also. He is
behind sending Simon and Santo to Colombia
to get Morales. All of this is to get
certain people off his back in the
government so he can in turn work with
Senator Danforth in uncovering a big
scandal. Marty becomes an supporter and
confidant of his when he replaces Christian
Bell.
Ronald Smith / Deputy to
Daniel Steel, not much information on him at
this time, he will tie in with Senator
Bolton.
Mario Rodriquez / He is
part of the leaders of the CCP and is going
to sell out Felix his long time friend for a
bigger slice and some day to be president of
Colombia with Rubio’s Morales help.
Octavio Torres / He is part
of the leaders of the CCP and is going to
sell out Felix his long time friend for a
bigger slice and some day to be president of
the country with Rubio’s help. He has other
motives like pocketing millions of dollars
out the deal and not so much being the chief
politico of Colombia. Money is his passion.
Senator Jefferson Halton Bolton / ranking senator on the intelligence committee and has made a deal
with Carlos Ramirez himself when he was just
a congressman. Ramirez gives him money and
when Senator Bolton is President of the
United States he will make sure no one
bothers the Ramirez cartel.
Jack Carter / he is the
gunslinger for Senator Bolton. A man with a
dubious past who is not above having someone
killed or blackmailed.
Muhammad Al Busaid /
Terrorist who is constantly going into
Colombia trying to get money and training
area set up for terrorist around the world.
He is the main man responsible for getting
the entire terrorist group together for all
out war on U.S. and its allies. Simon had
dealings with him in his days as a SEAL but
doesn’t remember his name when it’s
mentioned to him by George Silva. Simon’s
brother Cort is after him along with his
second in command Scott, who lost his
brother in the 9-11 attack. He will strike a
deal with Morales to blow up several key
building in major cities, something similar
to the Spanish elections. Rubio has a
politician he wants put in as President. Al
Busaid only wants vengeance for the man
responsible for killing his brother Hakim.
